NAAMH New IRS Public Charity Status

National Association for Athletes’ Mental Health Announces New IRS Public Charity Status

Long Beach, CA— September 8, 2025

The National Association for Athletes’ Mental Health (NAAMH) is proud to announce that, effective September 8, 2025, the Internal Revenue Service has officially recognized the organization as a public charity under Section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) of the Internal Revenue Code. NAAMH’s Employer Identification Number is 87-1566243.

This milestone marks NAAMH’s successful transition from a private foundation to a public charity, reflecting the organization’s growth, expanded public support, and deepening commitment to serving athletes and the broader sports community. Public charity status enables NAAMH to engage more directly with individuals, schools, and community partners while expanding access to mental health education, resources, and preventive programs for athletes of all ages.

“Achieving public charity status is a significant step forward for our organization and our mission,” said Jorden O'Neal, President. “It allows us to broaden our reach, strengthen community partnerships, and raise the resources needed to address the growing mental health needs of athletes.”

NAAMH is dedicated to improving athlete well-being through mental health education, awareness campaigns, Mental Health First Aid initiatives, and preventive support programs. With this new designation, NAAMH invites individuals, corporations, and community partners to support its work and help bring critical mental health resources to athletes nationwide.

Contributions to NAAMH are now tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
