About the Role
The Volunteer Mental Performance Coach will play a crucial role in delivering mental skills training workshops to high school students as part of NAAMH's assembly workshop tour. This position offers an exciting opportunity to empower young athletes with valuable tools to enhance their mental resilience and performance.
Job Includes:
- Participate in NAAMH's high school assembly workshop tour, delivering engaging presentations on mental skills training and athlete well-being to student-athletes.
Keep detailed records and reports of workshop sessions, including attendance, participant feedback, and key insights shared during discussions.
- Collaborate with the data retrieval team to collect and analyze data from workshop sessions, contributing to ongoing research and program evaluation efforts.
- Assist in the development of mental performance programs and resources within NAAMH, drawing upon your expertise in sports psychology and performance enhancement.
- Work closely with the journalism and marketing teams to create content for newsletters, social media posts, and other communication channels, sharing insights and success stories from workshop sessions.
- Attend weekly all-staff meetings to provide updates on workshop activities, share feedback from participants, and collaborate with other team members on cross-functional initiatives.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes, promoting positive attitudes towards mental health
and resilience in the face of challenges.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in sports psychology and mental performance coaching, continuously seeking opportunities for professional growth and development.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sports Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
Previous experience delivering presentations or workshops, preferably in a high school or youth sports
setting.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with and inspire student-athletes from diverse backgrounds.
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to maintain accurate records and reports of workshop
activities.
Passion for athlete well-being and mental health advocacy, with a commitment to promoting positive change
within the sports community.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing creative ideas and insights to
program development and marketing initiatives.
Availability to travel locally for workshop sessions and attend weekly team meetings.
Familiarity with basic data collection and reporting tools, such as Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel,
preferred but not required.
