About the Role
The National Association for Athletes' Mental Health (NAAMH) is dedicated to promoting and supporting the mental well-being of athletes. We are seeking a skilled and passionate Volunteer Mental Health Course Developer to create and design educational programs that will empower athletes, coaches, and stakeholders with tools and knowledge to address mental health challenges.
As a Volunteer Mental Health Course Developer, you will use your expertise to develop engaging, evidence-based courses on topics such as stress management, resilience, depression, and athlete-specific mental health concerns. Your ability to create interactive and accessible content will be crucial in making mental health education widely available and impactful.
Job Function
Course Design: Develop and design mental health courses that are relevant to athletes, coaches, and sports organizations, ensuring they are engaging, accessible, and grounded in best practices.
Content Development: Create educational materials, including presentations, videos, quizzes, handouts, and other resources that effectively communicate mental health concepts.
Customization: Tailor courses to address the specific mental health needs of athletes across different sports and competitive levels.
Collaboration: Work closely with NAAMH’s mental health professionals, researchers, and educators to ensure the content is accurate and aligned with current mental health standards.
Evaluation: Incorporate feedback from course participants and make continuous improvements to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the courses.
Diversity and Inclusion: Ensure that the courses are culturally sensitive and inclusive, reflecting the diverse experiences and backgrounds of athletes.
E-Learning Platforms: Manage and optimize the delivery of the courses through digital learning platforms, ensuring ease of use and accessibility.
Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest research, trends, and practices in sports psychology and mental health to enhance course content.
Metrics and Impact: Monitor course participation and impact, collecting data and feedback to measure the effectiveness and reach of the educational programs.
Requirements
Education: Master’s degree or PhD in Psychology, Mental Health, Counseling, Sports Psychology or related field.
Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in course development, instructional design, or mental health education, preferably with a focus on athletes or sports organizations.
Content Expertise: Strong knowledge of mental health concepts, particularly as they relate to athletes, including stress management, resilience, and performance pressure.
Instructional Design: Proficiency in instructional design principles and experience developing e-learning courses or virtual training programs.
Technical Skills: Experience with e-learning platforms, digital tools, and content creation software (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Articulate, or similar).
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex mental health concepts into accessible and engaging content.
Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple course development projects simultaneously.
Passion: A genuine passion for mental health advocacy and supporting athletes’ mental well-being.
Creativity: Ability to create interactive and innovative learning experiences that engage and motivate participants.
Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.
