About the Role

The National Association for Athletes' Mental Health is dedicated to advocating for and supporting the mental well-being of athletes at all levels. We are seeking a dynamic and creative Volunteer Business Development Specialist to join our team. This role is critical in helping us expand our reach, enhance our programs, and secure resources to further our mission.

As a Volunteer Business Development Specialist, you will leverage your expertise in non-profit development and mental health to identify growth opportunities, forge strategic partnerships, and implement innovative strategies. Your creative mindset and ability to think outside the box will be essential in driving non-traditional growth for our organization.

Job Function
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement business development strategies to support NAAMH’s mission and goals.
Partnership Building: Identify and cultivate relationships with potential partners, sponsors, and donors to secure funding and support.
Grant Writing: Assist in researching and writing grant proposals to obtain funding from foundations, corporations, and government entities.
Program Expansion: Collaborate with the program development team to identify and pursue opportunities for expanding NAAMH’s programs and services.
Innovative Growth: Utilize creative thinking to develop non-traditional growth strategies and explore new avenues for revenue generation.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders, including athletes, mental health professionals, and community leaders, to foster support and collaboration.
Market Research: Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential challenges in the mental health and sports sectors.
Reporting and Analysis: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of business development initiatives and provide regular reports to the executive team.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, Marketing, or a related field.

  • Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in business development, non-profit development, or a related role, preferably within the mental health sector.

  • Mental Health Knowledge: A solid understanding of mental health issues, particularly as they relate to athletes, is highly desirable.

  • Creative Mindset: Demonstrated ability to think creatively and develop innovative strategies for growth and development.

  • Fundraising Skills: Proven experience in fundraising, grant writing, and securing sponsorships or donations.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and persuade diverse stakeholders.

  • Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Passion: A genuine passion for mental health advocacy and a commitment to supporting athletes’ mental well-being.

  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency with relevant software and tools, such as CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms.
