About the Role
The National Association for Athletes' Mental Health (NAAMH) is seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated
Volunteer Accountant to join our team. This role is crucial for maintaining the financial health and integrity of the organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting various financial operations. This volunteer position is ideal for individuals with a background in accounting who are passionate about mental health and supporting athletes.
Job Function:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support the development and monitoring of budgets for various programs and initiatives.
- Assist in financial forecasting to help inform strategic decision-making.
- Record and classify all financial transactions in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation.
- Handle bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support organizational goals.
- Work closely with the team members to support financial operations.
- Collaborate with program managers and other staff to ensure alignment of financial practices with organizational goals.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Previous experience in a nonprofit accounting role.
Knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards and regulations.
CPA certification or progress toward certification.
Availability to dedicate 10-15 hours per week.
Ability to attend
weekly all staff meeting.
