Alexander Tumalip is a Sport Journalist with a BA in Communications from Brigham Young University (2023). His accolades include two-time awards for outstanding audio sports news features from the Broadcast Educators' Association and the Society of Professional Journalists. He is recognized as the play-by-play voice for Utah high school sports on KSL Sports Rewind and proudly became the first in his family to graduate from a college on the U.S. mainland, as well as their first-ever graduate from a Power Five school.
As a Sport Journalist at NAAMH, Alexander aims to contribute by highlighting stories that inspire and empower individuals to choose happiness in their lives. By sharing narratives of resilience and overcoming challenges, Alexander seeks to raise awareness and promote solutions that foster well-being and happiness.
Alexander's life goal is not about achieving a specific endpoint but rather creating a lasting impact through his work. His mission is to build a community of belonging through storytelling. Through his writing, Alexander hopes to touch lives and connect with individuals on a personal level, making a meaningful difference in their journey towards happiness.
While golf was a competitive sport for Alexander during high school, it remains a cherished pastime today, offering relaxation and an opportunity to disconnect amidst nature. His love for indie pop music, snowshoeing in winter, practicing meditation and grounding exercises, and spending time with friends reflect his diverse interests and passion for life beyond journalism.
